Artist's Statement: My grandparents’ stories about their trips to Arizona brought the desert to me as a child. I was 55 before I experienced it. The colors and the light are exquisite, and each element stands alone in importance. Those with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers are each invaluable in our world.

Dedication: For my grandmother, Bertha, who taught me to love the desert, and who faded with "senile dementia" before it had another name.
